  • Trade Embargo Bug?

CTP2 program embargos others on my behalf

It happened several times: Even when I haven't touched Diplomacy Manager for some time, suddenly another power declares war on me being annoyed of my trade embargo. I didn't!

Is it simply another bug or could there be some other explanation?

    Again:

Well, I guess it's the original version, bought in a shop, haven't played after installing the patch (today, in fact). It will fix it?

(Just looking forward to get enough money to buy a new machine for playing newer games!)

Did they declare war on you because of a trade embargo, or did they declare war on you (which causes a trade embargo)?

They were annoyed because of my embargo (which I didn't) and declared war.

Don't remember the exact text in the message, but something like this:
"The Greeks are annoyed of your trade embargo and declares war."

Sometimes I wasn't ready, other times it just pleased me.

An embargo is automatic once there is war. They probably declared war on you and caused the embargo themselves, and got upset about it because theyre a bit stupid.

              Sure AI is stupid!
Just look at where he builds his cities!
There are terrain with grass and rivers and goody hills and a forest or two, but he insist on establishing the city in a desert or snowy terrain next to the goodies!
And when he's weak and I am strong, he continues pirating my trade routes, laughs in my face, demanding gold to stop.
This game must be played on harder levels!
Read somewhere in the forum that game is easier on impossible level with ruins only than on easy levels with hords of barbarians!
But I should like to know how difficulty levels in fact affects gameplay, except for initially resources.

Now I will play. No city limits!

This is probably true for the unmodified game because the Barbarians can hurt the AI a lot too, but you can leave cities empty and Barbarians wont capture them.

The AI mostly gets bonuses to science and resource collection, it may also start with more units, settlers and gold.

If you want to play CtP2 properly (not so easily) then get the Ages of Man mod here:

Of course theres the sourcecode project playtest too, but its not finished.

                    AOM, that's a huge download.
With currently a 64 MB PC and 56K modem I'll have to wait until I get a better machine, when I'll also subscribe for a faster line connection.
So I temporarly put off source code and the likes; just rebooted the whole system to make the machine ready for others to take over, and it's got no CD-burner; I enjoy scripting when I got the grip of it, though I'll wait for a new system with better storing ability.

                    Anyway, thanks for the tips!
