  • Maximum (unlimited) number of cities

    CTP2 cities

    Any idea how to play the game getting no limitation in number of cities allowed?
    Really gets to boring trying to conquer whole world having to spend hours bombarding most of them, doing the SAME THING over and over again in a slow destruction, as I don't necessarily want to be civilized, but kill them all by TAKING the cities.

    you'd have to edit the governments text I believe thats where the city limit is. but i thought the limit only increased unhappiness

      Thanks for replying!
      I've gone through the directories and haven't found where to change number of cities allowed!
      Do you know where?
      And then how to make a change to avoid increased unhappiness?

      In scenario Alexander The Great (Uff!) you start in monarchy with 40 permitted cities I think, so there should be a way to do it.

          Thank you, I found it!

          So change Treshold to a higher value
          but keep Coefficient as 1?

            yep I think so, look at anarchy it has 1000 for threshold which I guess could be unlimited

              It works!

              Experimentally I changed tyranny Treshold to 20, opened game and editor, put 25 settlers on map, and after 22 cities I got the message that limit was reached under current government and more cities would make people unhappy.

              That fits: I've always been allowed to build two or three more cities than the limit before warned!

              So if I now change all government limits to 1000, guess that will go for other powers too, and they will put small cities between mine and steel territory and improvements. (They do that even when there are plenty of room for cities elsewhere!)

              That's bad in the concept! If Belgium establish a new city close to the dutch border, would Holland think it was allright of Belgium to take a piece of land across the border? Isn't that a declaration of war?!

              Thanks for the help! Now I'm looking forward to play; here comes the conqueror!

              Then a question about difficulty levels: In harder levels will other powers only get initially more gold and public works for a boost start or are they also smarter/quicker in scientificic research, harder to kill etc.?

                odder side do you have the regular version or the xplosiv (****ty version)?
                im assuming you have the original, which i hope ill soon be getting.
                the xplosiv version is a pos, once i get the OG with box/manuals/poster, im going to my backyard and smashing the crap out of the xplosiv.

                i posted my problems awhile ago, and none of the solutions seemed to help, from the start the cd itself seemed low quality, the title music would skip! right now im itching to play, but i dont want the game to crash which has always been happening.
                sorry for the rant & curse words.

                  Why not reduce the TooManyCitiesCoefficent for several forms of government?

                  Having a 4 point penalty for adding 10 extra cities might make the game more interesting.

                  My Coeefficent for Fasism is 1
                  Democracy = .33
                  Communism = .25,

                  making an empire of 43 Commie cities a resoanable choice.
