  • CD troubles

I just bought CTP2, along with the CD for AOM, and am having a very hard time getting the game to run.

When I try to start the game, I get an "Insert CD" error.

I've installed the game from my DVD burner drive, which is my lowest letter optical drive (F

I've tried playing with the CD in both drives F and G
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It seems that you need the original CTP2 CD. I have the xplosiv version of ctp2 and AoM will not open with it. I have now just bought the original ctp2 on ebay, waiting for it to arrive now.

Have either of you tried using a no-cd crack? If you dont know where to find one pm me, its against forum rules to post links to those sites here though.

But this will become just a temporary fix, because of the sourcecode project here, which may soon become totally compatible with AoM, and of course you wont find a no-cd for the Apolyton sourcecode version, unless you remove the cd check yourself.

I'm fairly sure the xplosiv verson of the CD is just the same as the original, although there do exist versions which are not the same...

That might not be the case. For example later versions include the patch. In fact I bought a second CD and it has the patch. And you cannot use it on the version installed from my first CD so simply. You have to place the texture.dat file from the CD you want to use into the CTP2 executable folder.

I had the same problem with the "Value" version of CTP2. I had to copy all of CTPProgarm directory from the CD onto the same directory of the Mod. It worked fine after that.

I have a strange problem with game set-up screen freezing when I try to change the name of my leader. This happens in the main game as well as AOM, anyone else seen the same problem?

You won't find here instructions how to find a patch even if you can't use google.

The best would be to buy a new CD, as stated in this thread they aren't so expansive.

However you could use the source code and compile a Release version, in contrast to the Final version it doesn't has the CD check.
