Termination of game upon starting-?

I've had this CTP CD for a few years now, and just installed it onto my new Presario 2500 laptop -- and each time I try playing, the game terminates itself (a dialogue box comes up entitled "Abnormal Termination -- Your game terminated abruptly. Do you wish to report the problem to Activision?" --and even if I do, nothing happens, no IE window, nothing.) I've uninstalled and re-installed 3 times now, but get the same thing. Any ideas?

Do you have the official patch installed? Do you have the latest playtest build from the source code project installed?
