5100BC: The new Ruler of Macedonia Epwood comes to
Power with two goals he hopes to acheive his
extremely long life: To create a new Dynasty and to
expand the Macedonian borders through expansion.
-Research switched from trade to dynasty.
5080BC: Our javelin cavalry enters a ruin just inside
the Byzantine border. To their surprise they finds a
regiment of javelin cavalry who were banished from
the Byzantine empire. They eagerly join us and urge
us to burn Constantinople to the ground. Instead they
venture into another ruin and are ambushed by
another javelin cavalry.
5060BC: Tragic news from the South in Perinthus. A group of 11 barbarians who managed to enter our borders undetected attacked the city which was caught
completely by surprise. The defenders of the city
were overwelled and died a quick but honorable death. The city is now in barbarian control.
King Epwood makes a speach to the crestfallen
citizens rallying them against the evil barbarians.
The Byzantines request that we leave their land and
we except.
5000BC: Our slinger is ambushed by barbarians after
entering an anceint hut.
4960BC: Rumors say that a great empire under the
leadership of Cyrus the Great has completed The
Pyramids.
4940BC: A barbarian army of 8 appears on the
outskirts of our capitol. Our citizens and armies
prepare for the worst.
4920BC: Barbarians slay a slinger sent to reiforce
Apolytonia.
4900BC: The Barbarian army disappears but another of
our slingers is destroyed. Another slinger is
ambushed by barbarians after venturing into a ruin.
The byzantines offer to exchange maps and we except.
4820BC: The Barbarian force of great size attacks Maquilidonia. Their forces were overwhelming and the
city falls. Reports from insiders in the King's
Palace in Apolytonia say that Epwood is having a
nervous breakdown.
4800BC: King Epwood takes his own life in shame. The
Empire awaites for a new leader to take the thorn.

I had enough units to retake the cities, but it would have meant leaving other cities exposed to attack. I thought it would be safer to build up our forces rather than risk a quick counter-offenseve. Mauraders+impossible is definitly a challenge.
Yeah on maurauders its difficult but sometimes youve just got to accept you couldnt have done anything about it. I mean we need to build cities, we cant defend and wait for barbarians forever, and we'll take back our cities eventually anyway.
A big plus for us right now is the closest AI, the Byzantines, being peace-makers. First they wont attack us for a long time and second diplomatic AI's will be easier to break down, if/when we want their cities.

We could try to further our diplomatic efforts with them also and try to exchange advances and an alliance.
We could. Have you tried it on Cradle, do they go for it? I havent even met a diplomacy-minded civ in Cradle before to try it.

I've never tried it in cradle before but this is also the first time I have met such a friendly civ. They completely trust us and its onl y been 110 turns. We will get diplomats soon enough and it couldn't hurt to take advantage of the civ. Trading for a few techs before we conquer them would be a good step in catching up in science.
yeah, i recommend being very friendly w/ the Byzantines as well
first, we must stabilize the barbarian threat by retaking the lost cities and increasing the presence of slingers in our garrisons and calvary on our borders
Sorry with the delay, I am so busy these days because of my work and my nights that I had forgotten about the Succession Game (thanks EPW ). I even don't have the time to keep up with the thread.
The problem is that I won't be able to find the two hours needed to play the game before tomorrow at best and more certainly saturday. As soon as I know when I can play I post in the thread to warn everybody.
Sorry again guys...

Aaargh, I won't have the time to play until this week-end, which means saturday afternoon at best.
I am really sorry, if someone can play before I can he is welcomed to replace me as it would allow the game to go ahead. I think we have started the game at the wrong time as it will be more and more difficult to gather the players with the coming summer holidays.
Wait and see...
