  • Unbelievably easy??

    Can't believe it's this easy. I downloaded the latest patch, the apolyton patch. the modswapper, the AI frenzy patch, installed them all and it's still no opposition at all.

    Am I doing something wrong or should I really play MP to get something out of this game? I installed the patches in the ctp folder and since Im not a regular computer games player or computer user this may have been wrong? I think I have installed/unzipped the files uin the right order though, if that matters.

    As it is now Im ready to go back to Civ 3 despite it being a too uniform game which bores me, but only because there I know I get a challange. I liked ctp 1 despite its obvous flaws, and at least the AI was agressive there.

    I'm playing at very hard and shouldn't be feeling I can do this with my left hand at my first real game.

    Hi Freddz,

    When you installed the game were you asked to overwrite some files (don't forget to set DebugSlic to No in your userprofile.txt file though). If yes, you have correctly installed the Super Apolyton Pack 2 (SAP2), if not, the SAP2 is not properly installed.

    Did you start the game through ModSwapper or did you run the game through the game shortcut in your Start Menu? To play the SAP2, you have to run the game through ModSwapper.

      Thanks for the reply. I suspected it was something like that.

      I didn't start the game through modswapper. Now I've found it. Thanks! Let's see if it works now. And AI Frenzy wasn't an alternative there, just the Apolyton. That's the way it should be?

        The Frenzy AI mod is an integral part of the SAP2 but is actually buggy and you should remove it... as far as I know the AI is also making some mistakes because of the orders given to the units through the Frenzy AI code.

        Open the APOL_main.slc file that should be located in the C:\Program Files\Activision\Call To Power 2\ctp2_data\default\gamedata folder and remove the following line:
        #include "APOL_frenzy.slc".

        If you want to remove a burden (building new units and disbanding the older ones one by one) and incidentally rise the difficulty level a bit you should use the Updater2 designed by Peter Triggs. It allows you to upgrade your units when they are stationned in a Fortress or in a City in exchange of Gold. It is slightly rising the difficulty level because the AI civs upgrade their units without having to pay for it.

        If you want to use the Updater2, the readme included with the mod is detailing the installation process. Don't worry it is really easy.

        Have fun!
