  • The story of the great vikings...

It was long ago in the realms of the wild vikings that a great chiftain rose to command, he ordered the vikings to stop hunting and stop foraging and settle down and grow food, instead of chasing down the food and kill it... His name was Eiríkur Blóðöxi(Bloodaxe)... He was givin that name because when he was a little boy he killed one of his friends with his fathers axe, he did it because he had lost a “knattleik” (A game not unlike the modern hokky...) Eiríkur founded the first thorp and called it Þrándheim, it was seated beside the river Blanda (which means Mix).

20 winters after that when Þrándheim had grown to a large town (1000 souls) he chose the best warriors from the town and sended them and their families away to found new thorps...
The warriors were: Guttormur sindri, a big and bould man but ferocios in combat. Hálfdán svarti (Half Dane the black) he was great and strong, he had a black hair hence the name svarti. Gyða Eiríksdóttr (Godess Eiríksdaughter) Húnþjófur and Arnbjörn.

When Eiríkur did that he was close to 50, he reaced the ripe age of 80 winters, his son, Vémundur took over the throne when Eiríkur was 70.
5 years after the settlers had left, news came . Húnþjófur had founded a town which he called Hlaðir it was streight north of Þrándheim. 5 years later news came from Arnbirni, he had founded a town west of Þrándheim, he called it Kaupvang, it was a costal town.
Nothing remarkable happened until 80 years after, a lone runner came from the east, he brought new from Gyðu, she had founded a hamlet far to the east, in a region called Jötunheimar, Uppsalir twas called. When that happened Vémundur had recently died and joined his ancestors in Valhöll.
His son took over the throne, Haraldur. he was 20 winters old when he took the throne.

When Haraldur was 60 finally news arrived from the fifth group of settlers, Hálfdáns group had ventured north-west along the cost until they met a strange group of people, they called themselfs thai, the viking warriors drove them away without the need to even fight!! These thai are mose definitly cowards!!

So writes the sage of Þrándheim in the year of 137...

I'm not sure if i'll ever finish this, but i felt like writing...

Years passed and the line of king graves lengthened until a great war leader, Gramur skjaldklofi. He sent messengers to the chiftains of the four other towns, he told the jarlar(eorls) that he was going to war with the Thai! The jarls were glad to finally get any action other then duels and quickly sent warriors towards Hróarskeldu, when all the martial might of the five cities was assembled. Gramurs host started their march towards the Thai lands... After two weeks of marching thei saw a town on the horizon, the vikings camped there, they held a great feast before the battle, the sacrificed hogs and goates in favor of Óðinn and Týr. Then the day after they started their march... They spared none of the Thai farmers and they burned down all the cottages in their path... The Thai fought fiercly but the vikings outnumbered them five to one so they were all slain... A days travel from the city the vikings found a camp of nomands, they called themself Lappar, the vikings killed them all to, Gramur called them barbarians. Gramur skjaldklofi killed 20 of the Thai single handly, he and the other jarls fought there way through the dwindling ranks of heavely armored thai warriors which were called hoplites, the unarmored viking soldiers were no match to them, but finally the line of hoplites was broken and they were all slain...

The victorios vikings returned to Hróarskeldu and told the tales of their exploits. After seeing the capabilities of the hoplites, the vikings decided to not venture further into thai lands until thei had hoplites of their own, and groups of new fighters armed with bows...

New cities started to form, Gauksstaðir and Gautaborg were the next to form....

Finally the viking army had hoplites and archers!! Now the thai should tremble in their holes because Gramur was on the march again!!! After a week of marching Gramur saw dust on the horizan, he sent out scouts and they informed him that these were Thai warriors, Gramur smiled and took his bronze armor and bronze sword. The Thai fought fiercly but the vikings outnumbered and outclassed them, they were slaughtered on the plains North-west of Hróarskeldu, they were called Vígvellir (Battlefields) after that...
Scouts reported sightings of more thai warrios to the west, the vikings gathered their weapons and attacked. The slew them all, not a single soul remainedalive after the fight, the other thai armies fled to the south.... Onward!! shouted Gramur the Thai are defeated!! We’ll take their capitol and burn it!! We’ll kill all the men and take their wifes as our slaves!!

Well it was a fairly common thing to do - it happened a lot in the British Isles, where ever the locals weren't able to defend themselves or run away.

Great story so far Iskallin I can see you have the blood of Odin in your veins

They marched onto the Thai capitol, Bangkok and attacked, it was a long and terrible battle, many a farmer son did not return to their mothers.. More then half of the vikings were slain, but they totally destroyed the thai armies.. The vikings started their long trek to Hróarskeldu, they were heavy with loot and there were many slaves with them.

Haven't gotten further for now, but i'll update real soon...

The vikings now had a great empire, but Gramurs bloodlust was not yet soothed, the Thai had a few more cities that needed to be razed. So the vikings gathered up new recruits in Hróarskeldu and headed back over Vígvellir and towards Chiang Mai.
Back home in Þrándheim, wise men had discovered ways to build bigger ships then before. Gramur ordered to build many of those boats so the vikings could set sail to discover new lands.
Gramur ordered a great tomb to be raised for him so he would be remebered for eternity, he called it the Pyramid.
The vikings flourished and a group of sailors from Þrándheim set sail to the south, after a short sail they found a new land to the south, it was huge and flat, they named it Villulönd (Wildlands) because they animals of the mark in there.

The vikings reached Chiang Mai after three weeks of marching, they poured down on the city and left none alive, exept for woman and children whom they took as slaves and sent them back to the Vikings lands. On their trek to the next thai city they met a strange group of people, they talked a strange language and called themselfs cubans, the vikings made a deal with the cuban embassador, they showed them their maps and instead got to sea their maps, it seamed that the Cuban empire was vast, but more importanly it showed the layout of the last Thai cities...

Ehen the vikings attacked Lampang they net fierce resitance, it was manned with at least as many meny men as the vikings had so the viking commander decided to leave the city and attack the next, the defenders would evantually surrender to the vikings anyway...
At the skirmish at Lampang Gramur finally went ti Valhöll, his son Haraldur II took over the throne, he voed to make the Viking empire even greater then before! Viking sailors met on the high seas sailors from the far away country of Portugal, they did not do anything that might provoke the viking because they had heard of what they had done to the Thai’ish cities, it seemed that the world was utterly disgusted by our actions! They are cowards, all of them!
In Þrándheim the jarlar took notice of a young man named Grettir sterki (Ramses) he was a great commander and was given his own army to command, and not just any army but an army outfitted with great weapons called catapults, the engines could hurl stones 300 feets!! What damage they would do to the walls of the Thai!!

When the army finally reached the walls of Hat Yai they knew that they would be facing a tough fight, so they held a great feast to Týr, Óðinn and Ullur and sacrificed many hogs. Next morning they started the assault, it took half day to breach the walls of Hat Yai but when they did the rest was easy... When news of this reached the ears of Lampang, the Thai sent messengers to Hróarskeldu and surrendered... Haraldur changed the name of the city Lampang to Birka, and sent all the Thais away as slaves to Óðinsvé, a new town south-east of Uppsalir. Birka was given to the families of the vikings who had lost loved one’s in the war...

After the war the viking people multiplied in number, gold flowed into the coffers of the king, food was plenty and the people were happy. But Haraldur wanted to explore new lands, so the scientists started to devolop new kinds of ships: Knörr large ocean vessels that could sail the deep waters, also they were devoloping new warships, they were long and light they were called langskip or drekar.

But 10 years after the end of the war, barbarians attacked Birka and took the city, a army was immediatly dispassed to take it back. And in order to prevent this to happen again, the vikings started to build a great wall on the boarders, so the raging barbarians could not enter the realm.

In the year of 2525 a startling event occured, portugese generals overthrew their leader Maria II and the joined the Canadian empire...

So writes the sage of Þrándheim...

From the diaries of Egill, jarl of Hróarskeldu
Again we are at war, the cuban cowards we killed outside of Birka, let them com!!
I’m sending a couple of thousands strong to Birka if they are thinking of attacking it again... In Þrándheim and kaupvang knerrir are being build to sail over the sea of Worms and loot the coast of far away realms. The streangth of the realms increases, Múrinn mikli is almost finished and when it is finished no babarian will dare to attack the great vikings!

Yesterday our vigiland húkarls cought foreign slavers in the act of trying to steal our people!! We’ll show these dirty Canaidians what it means to provoke the vikings!! The slavers were beaheaded and fed to the wolves. The canadians decleared war on us because of it...
From the west we here that Bjarni hvíti has found land, he named it Grænueyjar (Green islands)...

A story told by one of the vikings that raided Pico...

We sailed to the docks at night on our langskips and attacked the dock district, we took many slaves and much golod from the churches, they didn’t have a chance. Thirteen men i killed with my axe. And now i got myself four new slaves...

The vikings langskip raided the coasts of Scotland and Cuba and Canada, wise men in these nations said that the doom would arrive from the sea. All the world feared the wrath of the vikings...
Bergen was founded in Grænueyar in the year of 3275. The war with the Cubans continued and a brilliant young leader named Gunnar frá Hlíðarenda (Cyrus) he controlled the legions of the vikings to great victory against the cuban armies outside of Birka.
