It may sound weird but some motherboards experience problems when the RAM is reaching 1GB.

Not knocking what your saying, but I can't see that being the case. I have had this problem on two different systems (one being the Shuttle, and now the ASUS mobo).

I had flickering in those other game that i mentioned above before I had the Shuttle as well and I only had 768 mb of ram in that system.

              OK

Have you tried the technical forums or those related to graphic cards? I have almost always solved the problems I experienced this way.

Yes Black_Knight1, that was what I was looking for.

I am checking some stuff on the AGP-side, mide have to do with this.

FYI: I am using the same windows build

If you have some spare time yourself, me thinks, the problem is with the AGP-side.

Is your motherboard APG * 8 or 4? what about the graphic-card?

You might want to try to lower the value via the bios. AFAIR there isn't any graphic-card yet supporting * 8.............

Mine is supporting AGP 8x and I have the same Graphic card, a Radeon 9200.

Black_Knight1, have you tried to reduce the hardware acceleration by at least one rank?

It allowed me to solve some graphic problems when I was under Win2K.

Depends on your motherboard and the Rls of the bios.

Thanks for all the help thus far from everyone btw.

My motherboard is AGP 8x (ASUS P4C800). I tried turning the Radeon down to 4x and then to off. Neither changed the problem.

I suppose I could try another monitor at some point, but if I recall, I had flickering with an old one had before this one. I was running Win2k back then as well.

If you still have your old graphic card you can replace the newer one with it, we will then know if it is a specific problem coming from the Radeon 9200 or not.

If this is true sorry would sound 'funny'.

Asus is normally OK. And if you already tried with x 4, than it shall not be this.

Are you actually running the Radeon with default speed or did you 'tweak' it?

The thing is, this shall not be a normal Windoofs problem of the frequency, this sounds more like a directx-problem.

When you tried it on W2k, did you use directx 8 or 9?

I left the Radeon at its default speed, but have since tweaked the Direct3D settings - tried all notches/option there.

I would agree with in saying that its a DirectX-related problem. Upon my initial format/installion of Windows 2k, I went straight to the windows updates and had DX9 put on (I can't recall if Win2k comes with a DirectX already installed or not)

No, W2k doesn't come with directx pre-installed (unless done by your seller).

Just for a try: did you already tried to run with APG-disabled ?

It is under display and shall not require a reboot.

Another thing I found: originally for 9600, but maybe it helps as well.

I think i found the solution
Go to the c:\windows\ati technologies folder and run smartgart there......then in the options you get disable AGP WRITE, the game runs without flickering cursor, i hope that helped!
