  • Why?

May I ask why you all continue to play CTP? Doesn't the AI, frankly, suck? The last game I played (going on 2 1/2 years ago now) I watched the AI declare war on each other and...

    ..stack and bunch units haphazardly.
..pass warships by each other without firing a shot.
..move bombers over enemy territory...and not attack.
..have a dozen blackened tiles and do nothing to fix them.
One OS to rule them all,
    One OS to find them,
One OS to bring them all
and in the darkness bind them.

The big question is which mod did you play. Everything depends on the mod you play. If you mean by CTP the unmodded CTP2 then you are quetion can be answered easily, no one plays this kind of game, accept for MP where no AI is needed and for testing purposes only.

If you play a mod then the whole thing looks different, thanks to the open nature of the text files and the script language Slic allows to improve a lot of things. So the game has a lot of potential. Especially that other games of this genre aren't such moddable.

And finally all the liitations that were in spite of the open nature of the game are void with the release of the source code.

I see...so which mod is, in your opinion, "the best?"

The best scripted AI can be found in Peter's Call to Conquest mod. Of course with the source code the game can still be improved.
