  • happy went from 100 to 58 in one turn!

the year was 25XX AD, diety level, I was a ecotopian government in a nuclear war. The enemy was building the alien life project while I was destroying him, a very interesting race to say the least (it was the world map/24 civs if that matters). Pollution was very bad and I was 2 turns from building the Gaia controller (one small disaster had already happened). On my next turn the enemy completed phase 2 of the alien life project and my happiness went from 100 to 58! I had all the late game happiness wonders and then this crap happens. Of course, all of my cities revolted and all I had left was three nuked ex-incan cities with one paratroop each. What gives?

DId you perhaps have a negative cash flow? If your treasury plus income is not enough to pay wages and upkeep costs your wages will be automatically lowered, which can lead to serious happiness problems.

Did you accidentally change your Work/Wage/Ration setings?

You had previously build the egalitarian act wonder. It gives you 100% happiness in your civilization for a fixed number of turns, around 10 I think. In the meen time your civilization has deteriorated decisively ( you stated yourself that you had serious pollution problems), because of the egalitarian act wonder you hadn't been paying attention to the happiness of your citizens and when the egalitarian act extra little bonus of happiness ran out, your civilization was thrown into revolt...
You know the question, just as I did.
        What is the matrix?
