  • pollution problem

    Here is the situation:

I have a good sized empire (79 cities). Four of them have 13 pop, the remainder have less. I chose to build Recycling Plants before any Factories. Some cities have Nuclear Plants. There are no cities with a net pollution increase, and about 1/3 have negative pollution effects.

When I open the diplomacy screen, All my cities are pollution producers with about 160 pollution per turn. I am getting around 15 pollution warnings and 3 to 4 destroyed tiles per turn. This has been going on for about 8 turns.

What is causing this? Is this a known bug, or what am I missing? I have had this happen in a number of my games.

Also, I am not making any space flights either. I do have the Star Ladder, which I have only used one time (suppose to be "free"). But no other launches, so that is not a factor.

I am not shure if the space ladder is free concerning pollution, but you should get the Gaja Controller, before you build the Garden Eden Project. I did that mistake once and lost three cities, because they were so much poluting. So far I cannot give you an answer except the Gaja Controller. Another question is if you use a bigger map then normal, in that case you could have some trouble with the polution settings.

Well, I did a "race" against pollution and won the game by conquest before any major disaster (flooding) occured. . The map was normal size.

I started a new game, and found out it's not the launching with the ladder that caused it. I waited about 6-7 turns after launch before dropping the units. The next 3-4 turns after the drop i had the same thing happen, so it would appear that is the trigger. Descending should not cause that, nor does it state that in the book (launching yes, but not descending). So imo it's a bug.

If someone wanted to try and recreate it, launch 8 tanks using the ladder and build cities as stated previously.

The government you have makes a difference in the pollution problem. For a city under a Facist regime will produce more pollution than Democracy. Check that.
