I don't really care for the power graph. It's good for a quick reference, but (as far as I understand) it's based mainly on production so it favors socialist style governments. There has been several times when I have won a solo game while my rank on power graph was low. In solo games winning is based on civ points.

I'm not so sure about that production thing. berXpert plays a game with science highly emphasised, and consistently has a strong power graph showing.
