Attention all Uk and European Players!!!

I just ordered my copy from electronics boutique in the states. Trying to find it anywhere in the UK is just a living hell. It $85.00 including delivery so, given the notorious high prices i probably didnt loose out much including the trip up to london which i wasnt relishing.

Here is the site if you want to find it:

happy ordering and i look forward to gaming with many of my colleagues just as soon as the patch is done

I got my copy at CompUSA in San Francisco last night. Of course it was $49.99 but I have played this game addictivley since I had bought it for my PC last year. Now I'll be able to play it on the go on my Powerbook!

I have setup a webpage with regards to the Macintosh specific porting of Call to Power, it's at:
        http://websites.ntl.com/~mark.hunter/macctp.html

It's still new and i make no denial about scavenging present information around here, on the newsgroup and on forums... as time draws on and my copy eventually arrives i will be making my own observations - please feel free to contact me about anything you have seen or heard and i will be sure to post it.

        Thanks
        Mark

My copy finaly arived from MacSoft!!! (see above post)

I've started one game (on warlord ) and am up to 1450 something with no crashes yet. The game seems very stable if you give it LOTS of ram and run with only necessary extentions.

All in all it looks cool!

Well, more sorta-bad news, but I confirmed this weekend that the Mac version of CTP 1.2 seems completely compatbile with the PC version... including in the area of bugs. AI and Great Library files aren't read from the scenarios directory, so in order to play things like Awesome AIPs and CD's mod, we have to swap files in and out of the ctp_data folders.

I'm considering working on a tool that'll make this easier, but for now I don't really have the time to do a great job.

There are some mods that need to be made for CD's (and I think Awesome AIPs, too) because of some minor differences between the default Mac and PC files. Details when I get a chance to detail 'em....

Come to think of it... it may not be all that hard to just write an AppleScript that swaps default files and mod files in and out, for simple installation of mods that we know do not conflict... hmmmm

At any rate, be prepared for some headaches if you try to play any mod packs.

                CTP Update...

Nate B. of MacSoft today posted on the Usenet group comp.sys.mac.games.strategic that a patch is in progress, and that several specific bugs mentioned here have been addressed in the patch. If I read his message right, most of the problems I'm experiencing in multiplay are also fixed. Great news.

Has anyone here had any luck playing a multiplayer (not hotseat) game with several macs? He said they hadn't seen the problem I've experienced where multiple mac players can't join a game.
