  • Concept: Succession Game

Over at the Civilization II fora, they are playing several games called "Succession Games". This is a simple concept.

You get people to play (like in PBEM/MP). However, you all play a single player game. You each play 20 turns, post the save, and the next person in the order plays his 20. People play with little/no discussion with other people.

After the 20 turns, you post a detailed report of what you've done.

Any takers for a CtP Succession game?

I don't know if the concepts works here, we tried 6 succession games in CTP2, I know that only one was played to the end, but that was only, because someone offered to play it to the end.

One problem I think was that the number of people who played decreased and decreased so that finally noone was there to play. One think you could change is that as you mentioned in your above post the save file has to be posted and the one who is the quickest has the right to continue the game. I would say once the savegame is posted everyone has the right to post a message that he will continue the game, the first one who posted has it, if he fails to play on within the next week anyone else has the chance to take it, of course everyone has the right to appoint a successor so that everyone can play if he wants. Of course the game is free if the game isn't posted within the next week or any other certain amount of time.

      Frozzy.

I did read you post 1½ week ago - but I didn't really know how to answer without promising more than I could give.

Now I have read Martins reply.

Really - I do not believe we are enough CTP-players to start and end such a game.

For my part, I will not right now put much power in such a game. Sorry.
First they ignore you. Then they laugh at you. Then they fight you. Then you win.
