  • Looking for advice on which CtP mods I could use

    Greetings Poly (and MarkG),

Just for a lark, I'm thinking of going on a Civilization binge that will inevitably leave me homeless, friendless and job-less. To this end I've decided to use CtP.

There were a few things I didn't like about CtP: the terrain resources (water gives more food than grasslands), and the firepower/hit point model (or lack thereoff).

I thought I'd ask what mods people would use to tweak CtP. Specifically, I'm looking for two separate mods:

    1) A mod (or mods) that doesn't change the game too much from its "natural" rev1.2 state. I figure I should play the game at least once before I really start tweaking but I don't want any bronze age units knocking over tanks either.

    2) Whatever mods you would recommend, regardless of how drastic the changes are. In this case I'd love to hear what people would change and why.

    Cheers,
    SW

And what a noble lark it is (Love your handle, BTW!)

    1) Apolyton Pack. A must. Then Skorpion59's Add-On, if you like more scenarios and such. Then I'd go with Awesome Aips, if you'd like to have a more challenging AI. (BTW, in all the games I've played, phalanx units make very good pavement when the panzers start rolling )

    2) There lots of smaller mods that only change a few minor things. Also, if you would like a more developed trade system, let me know--I have New Trade Goods mod which is nearing completion but is quite functional as is right now.
There's plenty of threads around that go into detail about what "should" be changed, as well as what's being planned.

    Hope that helps.

      Certainly does help, Nordicus.

What I'll prolly do is download a whole slew of mods and then patch this baby up after I've played one game un-modified. I'll likely use the option 1 package you described above. I should get a good before/after picture.

I've read a little about your New Trade Goods mod as well. Sounds interesting. I'll check it out when you have finished it, just make sure to include a list of what changes you have made.

      Thanks,
      SW
