graphics on windows 7

Since I can't find out how to post a new thread, I reply to Q20. I also have problems installing Civilization CTP1 on windows 7,regardless the patch and codec. My friend has practicly the same laptop settings,did every step and on his laptop it works!
I can't play the videos(but that's acceptable for me),it starts up,but the screen is 'slow'.I have to move the cursor to 'unfold' the screen; when I set up the game and launch it ,it doesn't work,the game shuts down....
I suspect it has to do with the graphics card or its setting. Any advise,please? I couldn't play the game for about 2 years now
