  • Problem Nanopedia + National Shield

    Hi there,
A big fan of previous Civs I just purchased CTP not long ago and have found in my game (ver 1.2) that the effects of the Nanopedia Wonder (doubles effect of all labourers) are negated by the National Sheild Wonder (places a forcefield in every city)!

Is this normal? Has anyone else face this problem? Any suggestions? I couldn't find anything to suggest that it was. I haven't tested yet if it works on a city by city basis (ie. if when you build a forcefield in one city the nanopedia effect is negated for that city alone).

    I appreciate your help.

First off, it doubles effects of all Specialists in the civilization its built in not the laborers..I dont see why the National Shield would negate the effectivesness of the Nanopedia..Both are Genetic and neither goes the route of Obsolesence..hmm..never seen this..what makes you feel or suspect you have lost effectiveness of the DOUBLED EFFECTIVENESS OF YOUR SPECIALISTS? and not perhaps just that they were merely unsuccessful in whatever attempts they made?

    ~Peace~

Hey thanks for your reply... basically before I built the national shield a labourer (for example) was producing 40 production (twice the normal accounting for the effect of the nanopedia)...the problem was the same with my entertainers, they were producing 4 happiness (with theatre and nanopedia) before I built the national shield and then after... only producing 2 happiness each

I realised that after a while my specialists were only producing the normal amount even though I had the nanopedia. I traced this back in my saves and found that before I built the national shield the nanopedia worked like normal and after I built the shield it didn't work.

I have since tested it further and the Immunity Chip Wonder and the Wormhole Sensor wonder both have the same effect.

It is so apparent that if you destroy the wonder the specialists return to their level of doubled production (ie. the effect of the nanopedia is reinstated!). [To be painfully obvious: before nanopedia for example a entertainer produces 2 happines (with theatre improvement). After nanopedia they produce 4 happiness. After building either one of National Shield, Wormhole Sensor or Immunity Chip they only produce 2 happiness again!... with a labourer if they produce 20 production before nanopedia and 40 after nanopedia their production is reduced back to 20 production after building any one of the offending wonders??!!)

Any help anyone could offer would be much appreciated. Even the support contact details for activision as I checked the offical site and the support link was dead!

      Thanks for your help

I have seen where theatre+nanopedia produces 4 happiness, and other specialist produce normal according to the labor tab. However thier effects seem to be doubled when I compare it with the max tab. Hope this helps.
So one guy turns to another guy and says "T.A.I." His friends says "What?" He responds by saing "Think about it;)"
