I waz playing to test out what happens when you have to many slaves today and I found an interesting thing out. Each unit can control three slaves. which means you can hold up to 24 slaves without any troubles(an d leave an open space for new units). If you go abouve the number of units, then they will revolt. Your units will fight them, and if you have a slaver in that group, then you will recapture the slaves that just revolted. which means no loss of population(Every once in a while you will lose a regular citizen, but you will get it back the next turn). Your units guarding that city also have a good chance of becoming veterans when they fight these battles. If you don't go to far over the limit, they don't happen that often. It also seems that the defencive rating of the units holding the slaves has an effect on how often they revolt, bu5t I have to test that more. I held thirty seven slaves in one city with only seven phlanxes and a slaver. about every third or fourth revolt i would have to replace one of the phlanxes, but they held well. I think if you limited it to thirty or so you would have no probs at all hoding them, but I have to checl that out. I was wondering if anyone else had any thoughts about this? Or advice??

heh I have used that once or twice in land games generally I have a slaver in all cities. I produce from one city slavers just for that effect. In a great game with Flames I held on even over that thresh hold. Once with Saladino he could not understand why the emancipation wonder had no effect. One other thing, add happiness to your city a temple whatever. What numbers should I be looking for???? I just played a game on emp. and built two cities. i then used the slaver to increase them both to the mid 20's. i didn't take over the AI's citeis, even though I could have, i just waited for his peeps to pop out. in less than an hundred turns I was so far ahead of the eight comp players it was disgusting. but I would love to make it more disgusting. heheheheheWhat if the truth were a virus that could slide into the back of you mind and slowly take over?

The mear fact your cities built temples etc. increases the tresh hold. The numbers you have found be it percentages or slaves VS. troops increases. The ability to hold slaves over time can in fact wipe out any wonder that promotes growth in a civilization early in the game.

Once you figure that out apply the same thing (keeping cities happy) to extending the amount of cities you can have in each government. See if you can get to 45+ cities in theo. This doesn't sound like cheating. I think this is an intended affect of having the slaver in the city where you are trying to hold all the slaves. So it is actually a bonafide strategy.
I don't see how you can keep emanc from wiping you out if you relied on this though ?If it ain't broke, find a bigger hammer.

it is extending normality, where as rushbuying is a flaw in the game thus cheating, especially when your opponent has no clue this is just an extention of reality.

whatd be interesting is to know how you can control where the slaves are brought. sure it has to do with your closest city but not always and not solely.
also i often place slavers in defensive posts and cities to carry raiding barbarians into my cities as workers.

u can control where the slave are put by checking the amount of fighting units in the city(I don't belive that slavers count). Slaves will go to the nearest city with enough military units to hod them without revolting. each military unit can control 3 slaves. now, if you attack out of your city, the units u use to attack will be counted in that cities limit, even though they will not be in the city at the end of the turn, so be careful. if all of your cities are full of slaves, then they will go to the nearest city. If u want to control where the slaves go, then u empty out the cites of military units that r closer to the slave u are about to capture. Be careful to ensure that these units can get back into the city, though, or u might get yourself into trouble.What if the truth were a virus that could slide into the back of you mind and slowly take over?
