  • alien victory wont work for me

I have just bought call to power and I am attempting to build the X-lab. I have sent numerous wormhole probes into the wormhole and I get the message to start building an x-lab but when I go to do it I can't find it in the constrction list. I am wondering if this is a bug or if there is a patch available or else am I missing something????? I am running XP

Are you playing with Bloodlust on or off? If you're playing with Bloodlust on, you can't go for the science victory.

Bloodlust is off and it will let me get as far as sending the probe into the wormhole, then it tells me I can build the x-lab but when i go to do it its not in the list.

Do you have the other components in your build list lucy78green like the Embyro Tank, Gene Splicer, etc...

Open the Great Library in science tab (F3) and look under "concepts". There you can find the whole explanation what and how to do the different steps, creating alian life.

This may sound obvious but make sure you're looking at the right section of the build options - I can't remember whether the X-lab comes under improvements or wonders...

I have done this only once as i am also new to the game...

Are you sure none of your cities is building it? i think it's a Wonder....

I'll check if i still have the save game...

If i remember well the embryo tank and gene splicer appear on the list only once you built the X-laboratories.

                      Nice way of saying 'RTFM'

From what I remember/understand from the manual (and what a quick test confirmed), the gene splicer and stuff shouldn't be visible until the X-lab has been built but the X-lab *should* be visible. If it's not but you *have* entered the wormhole, you're must be playing a bloodlust game. It's quite possible Bloodlust accidentally got switched on, it's happened to others before (although I can't remember what the cause was).

I'll check but I was convinced that it was turned off. I've sent the wormhole proble loads of times now and I still can't see it

You can send in a wormhole probe only once.
                          After that, it disappears.
Are you sure it is a wormhole probe ?
Do you build a new probe every time ?
Did you get a message 'your probe brought back ...' ?

Several probes can be sent, the subsequent ones just make no sense.

To be shure that AlienEndGame is on just go to the userprofile.txt in ..\ctp_program\ctp\ folder and open this file with any editor of your choice. There you should find a line like this if the you play with the end game:

                              AlienEndGame=Yes

Otherwise the Yes is replaced with a No and bloodlust is on.
