  • Increasing city sizes?

Hmm..I just went through every thread available, (I think???) and cannot find a thread or response to a thread, it detailed what files and what lines to change to increase city sizes??

I remember someone posting a rather lengthy, detailed explanation about a year or more ago, it, ifin i remember correctly, involved at least a couple dfferent files??

It had to do with improve.tx with happiness building as well as over crowding building, )Hospital, drug store, arcologies, body exchange..I fprget)

If anyone remembers or can tell me I would apprectiate that, it, as I stated, was prettyin depth.

    Thanks

I don't understand the question. Do you mena you want to allow cities to grow further? In that case you'll need to add more building to counter overcrowding like those you listed - this is set in improve.txt by IMPROVEMENT_FLAG_LOWER_OVERCROWDING or else you can have a wonder like the sensorium to remove overcrowding unhappiness altogether (though IMO that's far too powerful a wonder). You might also need more food to help the cities grow... Can you be a little more specific? I can't think of any in depth things you have to do...

Ah yeah, Martin's explaination on allowing cities to grow. AFAIK this is just a CtP2 problem, in CtP I have had cities grow to size 100 and beyond without too many problems (other than feeding them...)

What was the problem? You want even bigger cities?
          Concrete, Abstract, or Squoingy?

From this flag the Sensorium shouldn't remove the overcroding effect completly:

              WONDER_FLAG_OVERCROWDING_REDUCTION -80

But the reduction should be immense.

And yes I had also cities greater than 100 and yes they were still growing therefore I was unhappy with the pop cap in CTP2, but because of this cap I don't need to terraform every bit of terrain around of my cities into grassland to maximize food prodruction. So my city surroundings looks much better with the varity of terrain and tile improvements.

Nice to see you around my friend! been awhile!

I was wondering, you DID have to adjust all the building files as well as City size's?..am I correct on this?

                  Thanks

These things only apply to CTP2 - in CTP1 the only thing that stops you growing is a lack of food or riots. You need only adjust the buildings if you want to offset the riots or add more food, but there's no absolute cap.

Well, after confering with my Wizards and Mystics II was chastised for not consulting them first!!

But they tell me tales of Lore, that a spell has been cast of which makes trade routes impervious to detection therefore safe to make cartfulls of shekels! They also have advised a most devious plan, wherein the food from the powerful stonehenge never goes away yes it even increases the growth of Trolldom! Marvelous I say Marvelous!

I have heard even the friars are working overtime assisting with certain "happiness" Wonders which should appease even the most fickle and weary traveler to keep peace amongst the outlying villagers!

And as we speak I am staring deep into a trance and cant hardly and scarcely believe my bewildered soul, seems that we now have complete peace with our neighbors and even those we have not met! And that ifin a few cities should overthrow their kingdom for better subjectation we shall be the default kingdom to welcome them unto our folds!!

                        Marvelous I say simply marvelous!!
