display problem

I'm very unhappy. I've been playing CTP on an old machine with only the usual problems (image enlarging etc.) Now I've got a P4 2.0 Gb and.....I can't play the game at all. Loads o.k. Everything o.k., until the game itself starts and suddenly everthing's a blur. I would think it's a monitor problem except...it's the same monitor that i used before. Other games aren't affected, but just bought "Settlers" and same thing. So is it the end of the world? I hope not.

whats your display settings?Also they have a good help guide in ctp files...or online at activision

thanks for replying - my screen res is 800x600 with 32 bit colour and refresh rate of 60....no change to the res or refresh rate works - windows is blurred completely. i think that's a problem right there, but i'm puzzled that it only affects civ games. i've been through the help file but nothing quite applies.
