  • Strange crashes

I've encountered a new kind of crash whilst testing my scenario which I've never seen before, caused by some unknown problem, and I was hoping for pointers...

I had been updated little bugs in the scenario, and testing it each time to make sure it worked by just starting a game, and everything was fine. However, when I saved and loaded a game, CTP crashed. Similarly, when I try to start another new game after quiting from the first, but without restarting CTP, it crashes in the same way.

This is not the same as the crashes you got from saving and loading without the v1.21 hack (which I have), these are very strange crashes because they produce no error message (not even an 'illegal operation'), nor a CRASH-*.* file in the ctp directory.

Has anyone else seen anything like this?

If you mean that the program just craps itself and drops you onto the desktop with no warning or error message......ya, it happens to alot of people.

That's exactly what I mean. Ususally those kinds of crash are due to an incorrect number at the top of one of the data files, but that causes a crash any time you try to load. I can't figure what might be the difference between starting a new game the first time and either starting for the second time or loading a saved game...

I have a plan to root out the problem, but It'll take hours . And it might not work even then.

My plan took 4 hours but it did find the problem . It was due to one of those darned numbers at the top of a file after all .

So, anybody who was worried, don't be .
