I have meddled with my CTP files a lot, but I still haven't gotten to the Great Library entries and units' still images. I've also been unable to open the .ZFS files, where I believe the entries and images are. Can someone please tell me what program can be used to open these files?

(This should really be in the CTP-Creation forum)

Go to http://apolyton.net/ctp/modification/ and check out the Activision FAQ.

For editing advice of any kind related to CTP, check out:

You might also look at the MedMod (http://apolyton.net/wes/) or my Mars Scenario (http://apolyton.net/forums/showthrea...threadid=24791) for an example of how it's done.

    (That's a shameless plug)

Forgot to say... actually you can hack into the .zfs files and extract their contents, but you don't need to unless you want to make small changes to their pictures or something.

Yeah, you don't really need to, but if you want to, then Martin the Dane wrote an extracting program. The most recent version is on his website, you're probably best off looking in the CTP2 creation forum for the thread "tile viewer in progress" then finding his homepage from that.

I see. I was thinking about making a new Great Library entry, that's why I asked.

To all those annoyed with the thread: this is a CTP General/Help/Strategy forum. This thread fits under "help." If I want to ask how to create an entry, I'll ask it in the creation forum.

Ok, I have one more files question. I want to build a hydrogen bomb. It's going to turn out looking like a nuke, but I'll put up with that. Now, my problem is the detonation effects. The nuke's effect comes from "special effect nuke" (whatever it's abbreviation in the files). Where are the special effects listed? In the ZFS files too?

No, they are in speceffectid.txt (in default\gamedata), and the numbers in that file in turn refer to the sprites named gx??.spr (in default\graphics\sprites).

              e.g., SPECEFFECT_NUCLEAR_ATTACK has a 4 after it, so it uses gx04.spr

You can make new special effects sprites with the sprite tool available from the official Activision site.
