Maq, how does one "save the game often"? I've never done that. You mean you can save it in the middle of the turn?

I'm sure that because it crashes on different cities, but not always the same, you should be able to get past it, by saving after each attack.
I was able to play through the Japanese turn this afternoon without a crash for example. When I played yesterday it seemed like the trouble-cities were the ones on the Chinese mainland, coincidently also the ones more heavily guarded, causing longer battles.
Maybe it's my imagination but I think if you skip the battleview as soon as possible it can help too.Call to Power 2: Apolyton Edition - download the latest version (12th June 2011)

First turn sent on to EPW. That took a while! I also played the neutral turn--I just fortified all their units and left all the cities set to 'capitalization'.
The game never crashed for me during gameplay, despite taking over many many MANY Russian and British cities. And I left the battleview on.
But I did encounter another problem. I saved the game after each big attack as you suggested--which seemed to work fine. But I did try opening the saved file once, and it did not work--just gave me an error message and crashed the game. I don't see that as a huge problem as long as I don't need save the turn when it's half done and to come back to it later.
Good luck to all, but I think we'll be rewriting history!
News flash:
The revolutionary peasants of the Soviet army were no match for the well trained and lightning fast German blitzkrieg. We danced around their entrenched forces to loot their cities and pillage the countryside. The poplulation is fleeing in terror and their leaders lie dead in the street. The major cities of the industrialized Soviet west, including the capital, Moscow, will never be the same. The ability of the soviet military to produce reinforcements has been severely crippled. All that remains is to mop up the remaining forces in the field that don't even seem to realize what has happened. Egypt has also fallen easily into our hands, bringing North Africa under that protective umbrella of German rule. Heil Happies.

I thought you could take Moscow, but only with heavy losses. Sounds like you found a hole and looted the whole place. Will have to fix that for the next version.

Don't worry, I think you'll have a chance to avenge your losses next turn. I think the set-up was actually pretty good. Things are never quite as good as the German media would lead you to believe
One change I would recommend for the future is that everyone should have a world map. We should all know where each other's cities are, because, realistically, that was the case. And it's a bit arbitrary where you did choose to include cities and where you left them out. The fact that we won't know where each other's units are will be mystery enough.

Turn to the Psychedelic Frog.
Address Delivered by President Roosevelt to the Congress, December 8, 1941
Yesterday, December 7, 1941-a date which will live in infamy-the United States of America was suddenly and deliberately attacked by naval and air forces of the Empire of Japan.
The United States was at peace with that Nation and, at the solicitation of Japan, was still in conversation with its Government and its Emperor looking toward the maintenance of peace in the Pacific Indeed, one hour after Japanese air squadrons had commenced bombing in Oahu, the Japanese Ambassador to the United States and his colleague delivered to the Secretary of State a formal reply to a recent American message. While this reply stated that it seemed useless to continue the existing diplomatic negotiations, it contained no threat or hint of war or armed attack.
It will be recorded that the distance of Hawaii from Japan makes it obvious that the attack was deliberately planned many days or even weeks ago. During the intervening time the Japanese Government has deliberately sought to deceive the United States by false statements and expressions of hope for continued peace.
The attack yesterday on the Hawaiian Islands has caused severe damage to American naval and military forces. Very many American lives have been lost. In addition American ships have been reported torpedoed on the high seas between San Francisco and Honolulu.
Yesterday the Japanese Government also launched an attack against Malaya.
Last night Japanese forces attacked Hong Kong.
Last night Japanese forces attacked Guam.
Last night Japanese forces attacked the Philippine Islands.
Last night the Japanese attacked Wake Island.
This morning the Japanese attacked Midway Island.
Japan has, therefore, undertaken a surprise offensive extending throughout the Pacific area. The facts of yesterday speak for themselves. The people of the United States have already formed their opinions and well understand the implications to the very life and safety of our Nation.
As Commander in Chief of the Army and Navy I have directed that all measures be taken for our defense.
Always will we remember the character of the onslaught against us.
No matter how long it may take us to overcome this premeditated invasion, the American people in their righteous might will win through to absolute victory.
I believe I interpret the will of the Congress and of the people when I assert that we will not only defend ourselves to the uttermost but will make very certain that this form of treachery shall never endanger us again.
Hostilities exist. There is no blinking at the fact that our people, our territory, and our interests are in grave danger.
With confidence in our armed forces-with the unbounded determination of our people-we will gain the inevitable triumph-so help us God.
I ask that the Congress declare that since the unprovoked and dastardly attack by Japan on Sunday, December 7, a state of war has existed between the United States and the Japanese Empire.
[Congress votes to declare war on Japan]"

I mean we know what the world looks like anyway, and it doesn't have to be entirely realistic. Also there's no point adding another 20-30 cities in South America, if they will be of no significance.
Re: the cities. Which should I have included? Some nations already have very tight spacing between their cities. There needs to be a balance between each nation. For example if I add lots of new cities for the SU, I would need to balance that with more in Western Europe, but there's not enough room already. I'm really more concerned with balance than accuracy, if it doesn't affect balance (or ruin the game play) then I'll throw anything that adds more detail in.Call to Power 2: Apolyton Edition - download the latest version (12th June 2011)

The only type of thing I wish I new is, for example: how far down the road into the 'unexplored blackness' is the next Russian city? Is it worth it send my tanks down the road to take over another city, or will they be left like sitting ducks on the road because it's too far away
. And I think that could be solved by giving everyone the map. But it's not life or death or anything, just a suggestion.
I think this is a great scenario so far. I probably won't think it's so great after your counter-attack though!
