Installation hangs on 77.5%

Hello guys
Mind if ask a question?

I have Cctp since a lot of years ago and really love it, even more that Civ 4. I´m trying to play it again but the cd seems to be damaged because it doesn´t go beyond 77.5% (max installation). I tried to create a disc image to avoid using the cd but it doesnt complete after a error.

Anyone know how can I solve this problem?

Alex,

I think your best bet is to buy another copy of CtP off of eBay. You can get it for about 1 USD (plus shipping). There are plenty of people out there who bought it and think the game "sucks!!!" So that is good for us -- i.e. plenty of cheap copies available!

yeah I know I have heard that a lot
but small problem, I don´t live in the US so 15 US$ of shipping for a 1 US$ CD is not worth it hehe

however I did discover something, when I try to install on minimun it does finish, and a few years ago I found the video files on the CD, so I copy them into the folder and it seems to work (and with a no-CD file that I don´t know if I´m allowed to speak here....)

seems to work fine so far, now what about that ladder? how to play in Internet?

Yes, I see -- too much money. But if you got it to work great. Take a look at the above CTP PBEM Ladder opening post to see how it works. If you want to join a play by email game, just post your request there.

I think a few people still play CtP games on the internet, but all I know about is play by email. If you post there, someone may be interested in playing an internet game.

Before you buy a new CD, you could try a manual install, first. On the CD you have two files called: civlang.ctp and civmain.ctp.

Both files are zip files, so can use WinZip or WinRar to unzip them. If you cannot open the files copy them onto your harddrive and give them a .zip extension and unzip them to the your game location.

If the file copying doesn't work, because there are problems with the CD, then it maybe some scratches on the CD or just some finger prints. If it are some finger prints, cleaning the CD should help.

Another thing, I have a pretty decent computer now, with Vista

Several of older but great games would not install and hang up

I disable movies and they worked fine

i get it to work
but i haven´t play too much
i feel like it´s boring now
but the wonder vids still makes it feel like a great game

I´m going to check the other threads to see if any1 still up 4 a game
