I build my cities different than others. I really work hard on PW early in the game. I find if I dedicate more to it than others, later in the game I really slingshot past people. I find if I get to marines, I do not lose. Only nukeboy has beaten me at that level, but I beat him more until he figured out how I build and now we are even. Building this way usually makes me me look bad on the power graph for a long time and then I jump. See it gets my growth al little better, and eventually my productioin and gold go up, but I suffer a lot in the science department early. I also place my cities different than others. In alienseed I started out a next to last. Took over the turn sold off things, disbanded cities and moved them over then spent a ton of PW to make them grow fast, a city I have size 6 will have 3 farms\nets and 3 mines everytime. I notice people to not build as many mines as I do and I think that is the real secret. After I get where I can build advanced mines I go to 100% PW and replace every mine I have with an advanced mine. When I get robotics I do the same, go 100% PW and replace all the mines. Also none of my workers on food are on empty tiles, they all have farms or nets, and I replace them as soon as the advance gets to me, again with 100%PW. my cities grow huge. Usually when I get electricty I need to replace over 100 mines with the new ones. I really build that many. My gold an production almost double when I do that. Then at some point I will go t0 100%PW again and go to my cities and terra form enough squares to hills for each worker available (not on food). Then as they turn to hills I put a mega mine on each and I zone with production and gold.
The reason you saw so much gold was because I have to rush buy a mind controller in any new city I build and because of this governement my city starts off at 66 happiness so I lose 40% of them and the 40K it took to build the mind controller, but the others survive. Every city I have has a mind controller in it so I can run production wide open and food at minium and gold at minium meaning I grow real fast and have a lot of extra gold. I also had over half my cities on capitolization to fund those mind controllers. I built 8 cities in one turn, reset my food/gold/production switches, and rush bought 8 mind controllers at 40K a piece, I lost 3 of the cities, but 5 survived. They were space cities, so the next turn I rush bought the nanite factory so I can buy space bombers for 7200 gold. then I am going to sit above greens cities and reduce them to ashes and then disband all them except the good ones. So I have gone back and changed all that capitolization and started building fusion plants.
Anyway that is where I am at. When I max the switches, I have a total of 340K production, 60K gold. No way you could win this I have close to 300 marines, 100+ interceptors, 80 war walkers, 60+ paratroopers, Enough space planes to transport about 200 marines and a few space fighters. You can look at my turn if you want, it is an awesome empire, smile. ken
You can use the gold to rush buy production boosters, gold boosters or anything else that will help your city get bigger faster. Like put your PW to 100 % and rush buy items that you need and use the PW to put down mines and fisheries on your guys. Try it and see how you stagnate for abour 15 or more turns, but when you go back to 20% PW you will be much bigger and grow so much faster.
change to corp rep or technocracy. you can only have 70 cities under fascism.
Corp is better for gold and such, technocracy is the best but has a brutal war discontent number like -6 to -8 or so, I might try corp rep if I was you and later change ot technocracy.
