  • how to make proper .tga's?

I tried to add a new icon for a message in ctp, and found it needed to be in .tga file format.

Now, i didnt have any program that could edit these, so i just made my icon in mspaint, and converted it using some batch convertor i downloaded.

But, the icon wont show up in ctp properly, its either garbled, or completely black depending on if i turn compression on or off in the converter program.....

How do i make a .tga that will work with ctp? what programs can i use for this?

Heh, after I found out the CtP-Creation forum really had more than 2 threads, I did some digging through them, and solved my own problem.

In this thread I found out I needed to make 16-bit tga's, something the convertor I used wasnt able to do...

In that thread there's also a link to this page where I found Any Image 3.4 which is able to convert to the correct tga format (select 32K colors for 16bit).

And yay! After I got the image working I got my little modification working in no time :-)

It all started when I recently tried the apolyton pack, in which after the last item in the building queue is built, and it is a unit, it is removed from the queue.

I was a bit annoyed by that, so I re-enabled that feature, with a new icon!
Now when a unit is built that isnt the last one in a queue, the normal "unit built" icon is shown.
When the last unit in a queue is built, my own icon is shown, and another unit will be built.
When the queue is really empty after building a unit (settlers, engineers) the "queue empty after building unit (unit icon&question mark)" is shown.

YAY! Now victory will be mine!!! (just wanted to share my success lol :-p)

Maybe you should put your little creation into the Apolyton directory, Hackey.
