4FF7-C61B and XP?

I have 2 computers, both WIN XP, but one was bought 4 years ago, and one was bought this year. Suppose I want to play on LAN against another user on these two computers.

The problem is: On the new computer, when I try to run, i get the following dialogue:

Civilization-Call To Power has terminated abruptly
Report problem to Activision?
CRC: 5B12-A3B3
[text box to send error report to activision]

The odd thing is- it works on my old computer! So why not on my new one?

Nevermind!! I just found out the solution! You've gotta run the game in Windows 98 mode! Im so happy

(Maybe make some sort of help thing if someone else gets this error.. i saw someone else got something similar)

How do you start an Xp computer in Win 98 mode? Is that the safe mode or is it something different? Please help, im having the same problems you did with the termination thing.

You don't start the whole computer in Win98 mode, just the game itself. Right click on the game executable in explorer, and look at the properties tabs.
