in that case, for each person within your legal "3-places-upward" range who doesnt respond to a challenge, just extend your range by 1 person upward and challenge that person if you like.

I challenged all 3 of the "Emperors" (24, 25, and 26 on the Ladder) with no responses at all. So the next guy would be thehappies, who was gracious enough to chime in. So that makes it a legal challenge, I guess. I'd like to start the game from scratch, if that's okay with you. I'll use the standard challenge match settings, except AI set on deity. Also, in case of a really bad starting position, let's allow each player one free "do-over" which must be used by Turn 5. Sound okay?

what if ruins are in the way of where i want to go? i have to go around them? i guess that's ok. i guess the AI will get them eventually.

you can simply set the "RUINS_CHANCE_PER_BOX" field in the "const.txt" file in the "..\ctp_data\default\gamedata" folder to 0 for the time of starting the game and no ruins will appear in the game.

Thanks, Math. That is exactly what I did, so there shouldn't be any ruins to go around. Turn 0 will be dispatched in a few moments. Should we start a new thread for communcation and game notes, or simply rely on email? Either way is fine with me.
