Cannot play lan game. Please help!

I am trying to play a lan game. Both machines are using Windows XP. The 1.2 patch is installed for both games. We can see each others game, but when it tries to connect, it says that the lobby is full. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I apologize if this is not in the correct forum section.
