The way i do it and I dont mind sharing is this:

I put a wonder in a city and then suround near that city with cities that produce maybe Calvary or in this case machine gunners

then I send them to the city with the wonder and disband them within the city

Now..you dont get a 100% retrun on investment but they do help expedite the wonder

Yeah, that makes sense, except from an "efficiency" point of view. I think you only get back 1/2 of the production value when you disband. Have you ever compared this strategy with just having the same support cities crank out Gold/Capitalization, and rush-buying the Wonder? I'm sure some enterprizing soul has done this, but kept the data to himself!
