CTP wont run? xp issue?

Hey guys,
I just dug up my old ctp cd and installed it.
It installed fine and the preload screen comes up when i start the game. I press play game and nothing happens, it just returns to the desktop

So i installed 1.2 patch and it still does the same thing.

Are there any known issues with the following hardware / os

windows xp prof
radeon 9800 pro
gigabyte motherboard 8knxp

Have you tried running in compatibility mode for an older version of Windows?

It works in 98 mode , weird it works fine on xp on my other computer

how did you switch the compatability? im using a windows xp as well, and the one my friend has runs CTP. on mine, however, as you said, it loads the beginning screen but once i click on play it goes to desktop. so how do i switch the compatability?

Right-click > properties on CtP2.exe in ...\ctp2_program\ctp, compatibility tab, tick "run this program in compatibility mode for, win98/ME.
