The fact is there is unsettled territory that I'm trying to map (not you) which means I need to find where you stop and where the unsettled part starts. I can see that that boundary is changing rapidly as you greedily gobble up any open land, block me from exploring to find it, AND won't allow me to pass by your city to get to a large chunk of it. So who's the antagonist? I'm sure my longboats are sending shivers of fear down the spines of all your citizens so go ahead and sink them with your subs, SOLs, battleships and whatever else you got. Not like I can do anything to stop you.
I have Canadian boats hanging by my coast and I haven't made an issue of it. I did a drive by on his coast to and he's making no complaint. We are not allies (though I've tried to sweet talk him), but we seem to be able to coexist and even (heaven forbid) see each others cities with our units occasionally. You have a problem . . . see a doctor.
So keep building up your massive useless military and your listening posts and trenches, and then when you get bored, come kill me.

I love the way you word it. I took psychology 101 in college too so I can see a dodge when I hear it.
what I hear you say is I am supposed to allow you to move as close to me as possible and settle cities so later in the game you can use them against me. After all this is a war game and will only have one winner when all is over. that would be rather stupid of me.
Badgering me every turn is "ranting". have fun, all part of the game. I had a friend who taught me how to play the game and he always "whined" for me to allow him some advantage everytime I played. I can turn a deaf ear to it.
Basically if you want the land, come and get it. If you can take it, do so.
If I build a huge navy I quarantee I will use it. I do not like to build a large navy, but if someone makes me do it to protect my best interests, I will. When it gets too big, I will use it instead of wasting it, that is the nature of the game.
I really do not care what relationship you have with someone else. Juast because you want me to do differently and every post you make here trys to make me the bad guy for not allowing you to settle as close to me as possible is obsurd. Stop trying to get me to allow you to have the land. I will not and if I can defend it I will, if not and you take it from then again that is the nature of the game.
