Is anyone out there still making mods for CTP1? Or has everyone moved over to CTP2?

I'm just finishing up a new mod for CTP1 that redoes the entire tech tree, adding about 30+ new advances, 20+ new units, one new wonder, and 10 new city improvements (mostly special ones for undersea and/or space cities). I also redid the stats for almost every unit in order to make them fit better with the new techs. Great Library all changed as well. There's also SLIC code for adding population to new cities once you discover "Urban Planning" (varies depending on city type), and for upgrading obsolete units by paying for upgrades with gold (upgrade one at a time or all at once) - this is kinda like SMAC's upgrade system.

Is anyone interested in testing it out for me? If enough people reply I'll post the files up on this site.

Hey sounds cool man, actually I'm still making my ww2 scenario for ctp1, it's well past the point of no return to switch it to ctp 2. I've been making it for quite some time but it will be finished, I'm not going to stop till it is. I don't have a lot of spare time so that is why it is taking a long time but I also never imagined how many problems I've had to work past but it'll get there.

    Hey, upgrading units!!!!!! sounds awesome!!!!!

Ya, keep us up to date, I'm sure there is still alot of people playing ctp 1.

That's an awesome idea. There are already several ModPacks for CTP1, but I think none of them goes so far.

I will be glad to test it. I have also designed a few units, and special technologies for them, that AI does not research. (Thus, human-player-only units). I will send them over if you like.

you can reach me over the Forum, and thru: saracoglu@estetiksoft.de

      cheers,

I'm _always_ on the lookout for new units. Have you got new sprites too?

BTW, my SLIC upgrading routine has problems in multiplayer. The game keeps resynchronizing whenever the routine creates/kills units on a client machine. It works fine on the host though. Is this a known SLIC problem? Anyone have any ideas? It's weird 'cuz there's no problems with adding population to cities... It just seems to be a prob with creating and killing units. It works fine in single player though.

It should work fine with the multiplayer, but you have to make sure and double check that the client has exactly the same files as the host is playing with. I would try it with a couple different people. If everyone has the same problems it is a problem with slic, but if it works for one person and crashes for another, you know that it's just a problem with people not having all of the same files that the host is playing with.

I'll post it when it's done. I'm actally having problems with some of the pictures not showing up right. Does anyone know of a program that is either free or available as a working demo that I could download that will convert 24-bit pics into 16-bit uncompressed pics so they'll work in CTP?

I'm also going to try to add some civ-specific units to it.

BTW, I know all the clients that are running this mod have the same files as the clients are computers on my home LAN. It must be a SLIC problem...
