APOLYTON PACK V1.0 1/October/1999
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
INTRODUCTION
The Apolyton Pack combines the most popular modification packs and maps for Activision's Civilization Call to Power. Using the "scenario pack" feature of the 1.2 Patch, installation is now simplified, and default game files are not overwritten. Plus, the best fan created files are combined in one easy download.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
REQUIREMENTS
1) Activision Civilization: Call to Power
2) C:CTP Patch v1.2
3) "1.21 Hack"(optional but recommended)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
INSTALLATION
Before installing the Apolyton Pack, we recommend that you install the "1.21 Hack" http://apolyton.net/cgi-bin/ctp/files/download.pl?id=75
It's a pretty "clean" file, we haven't seen it causing any problems, only solving For more about this see below
Step 1) If you're reading this, it means that you have run the installation program and extracted all the files to their right locations.
Step 2) Change the DebugSlic attribute to Yes in the userprofile.txt in the ..\ctp_program\ctp folder
You can ignore the installation instructions in the other readme files
Step 3) You're done! To use, open CTP, start a new single player game and press the Select Scenario button. From there you will see the Apolyton Pack choice and then the various choices for random and pre-made maps.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"SCENARIO PACK FEATURE" BUGS, SOLUTIONS AND ADDITIONAL INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
There seems to be a couple bugs in the scenario pack feature.
1) TGA, GL FILES, NEW SOUNDS NOT WORKING UNDER SCENARIO FOLDER
a) If you dont use the "1.21 Hack", the TGA files will not work if they are under the scenario folder, causing the pack to not load and perhaps crash CTP. This is due to a bug in the new Scenario Pack feature of Patch 1.2
Solution: after installing the Apolyton Pack do the following file moves
scenarios\Apolyton\graphics\pictures\*.tga to ctp_data\default\graphics\pictures\
b) If you use the "1.21 Hack", you will have no problems with TGA files.
2) LOADING/SAVING BUG
a) The following apply if you DON'T use the "1.21 Hack":
In some cases, loading a saved game of a game which used the Apolyton Pack will not work correctly and might crash CTP. In these occassions the game does not save the information on if and what pack was used for that saved game. In the saved games that cause the problem you will see only one "loading bar" when you try to load it. In saved games which work you will see two(probably one for the pack and one for the saved game).
To understand what exactly is going on, if you have installed the Apolyton Pack follow these steps
a) start a new random map game with the apolyton pack(use the Dutch which have a new city style)
b) save it and exit(let's call it "savegame 1")
c) start ctp again and load it. everything works
d) play a turn, save it and quit("savegame 2")
e) start ctp, load "savegame 2" and it will not work
f) start ctp, start new game with the pack, load "savegame 2" and it WILL work
g) play a turn, save it and quit("savegame 3")
h) start ctp, load "savegame 3" and it wont work again!!
Solution A: Start a new random(not pre-made) map game with the pack and then load the saved game. This probably works cause when you load the game, the pack files are already loaded in ctp's memory. In the case of pre-made map games, loading a saved game normally, will not work always. The solution again is to start a new random map game and then load the saved game.
Solution B: Use the Multiplayer Game choice always. This means starting a new game from the Multiplayer choice(TCP/IP) and loading it from there. We have found that this solution is more simple and take less time than the first one. You are also able to choose the AI civs and change lots of rules that you can't with the Single Player choice.
Note on Hotseat/PBEM: Hotseat and PBEM games have the same problems as the Single Player ones. For these games, only Solution A applies.
b) If you have installed the "1.21 Hack", several things are changed:
Single Player, Random Map - everything fine
Single Player, Pre-made Map - problems continue, see the solutions above
PBEM Random Map - everything fine**
PBEM, Pre-made Map - problems continue
Hotseat, Random Map - everything fine
Hotseat, Pre-made Map - problems continue
Multiplayer, Random Map - everything fine(as before)
Multiplayer Pre-made Map - everything fine(as before)
As you can understand, things are fixed on random map games, and you'll have to follow the solutions described above to have everything working fine in the other cases. Of course, you can always overwrite the files in the default folders and solve all your problems at once, but this is against the original idea for the creation of the pack.
** You still can't properly load PBEM games using the official way (double-clicking on the saved game). However, you can load PBEM games if you put them in a subdirectory of the saves directory and load the game from the single player load screen. CTP will still recognize the game as a PBEM game and tell you to mail it to the next player when you end your turn even though you load it from the single player load screen.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
NOTES, KNOWN ISSUES
1) With Harlan's mod included, if you choose the random map scenario, you will see the default civ names in the civ selection window. This happens as the pack's files have not been loaded yet. So, if you choose the Nigerians, you will actually play with the Austrians. However, if you start a new game, and then start another one, the pack will be already loaded and you will see the correct civ names
2) Starting locations: World 8: a few where changed to be more accurate; World 24: random ones; EastMed: Correct ones and two more civs added for a total of 8
3) Games started with previous versions of Apolyton Pack will probably not function correctly
4) The default folder to save pre-made map games is "Apolyt". You can always use another folder, but the default that will appear in the save game dialog box will be "Apolyt". This is part of the scenario pack feature as ctp reads the name with which the map was saved initially. For random map games the default folder name is as always the the name of the leader.
