  • Help for a Newbie?

    Greetings, my friends of Civilization!

    My name is Agin, and I am from Germany. I just discovered this phantastic website and hope to get a little help here.
    I would really love to make some new maps, units and scenarios, but unfortunately have no clue, how to do this. Could anybody please tell me what exactly I would need for this? I just downloaded a lot of stuff from the the "downloads-section", so probably I already have everything I need, now all I lack is but the idea what to use how. Any help is appreciated. Please email me to

    agin@agin.de

    {P.S.: Something off-topic, should any of you be Knights of the Dinner Table - fans, you may check out my homebrewed fanpage, www.kodt.de}

    No offnece, but start by figuring out what you want to do, then ask more specific questions.

    To make a map, just install the raw game, then the patches, but no mods. Then run the map editor that comes with patch 1.2.

    As for mods, start by reading the variouse SLIC documents bot the ones available for download and the ones online.

    If you want to work with the UI, don't the only thing that can be changed is sizes and placements of scvreens. You can also download my screenmod (version 2.0 is comming soon) and have a look. There are a few screens that I havn't changed but would like to see changed, doing this however requires the use of screencapturing, image editing tools, and a lot of time.

    Visit my CTP-page and get TileEdit and a few other CTP related programs.
    Download and test SpriteEdit development build.
