  • Help, my pictuers don't show up

    I created pictures for some improvements I made, and all I get is a blank black box. I also have the problem with the .avi's. Any help will be apricated.

    There are people here who can help... but you have to get more specific in your questions... give more info. It's almost like saying I wrote a program, it doesn't run, help me... any number of things can be wrong and usually are (Murphy). What format are your images in... what format and size are you making them for CTP... what are you naming them... where are you putting them... what changes are you making to what text files... ??
    Post this info... someone will help.

      I had the same problem with the blank box. I read Dogfish's thread about using PSP5, and I solved my problem. Open and then start to save the file. On the save tab, at the bottom, is an options box. Click it, and select 16bit and uncompressed, then ok and save. This solved the problem for me.

        My pictures are in .tga format. I have names
        cm062 and upm062. There in default\graphics\pictures, And improveicon I tell it to use those files. I've tried sizes 96x72 and 160x120. And there 20.2KB.WesW, Tanks I didn't have those set. But I marked those and tried agin but it's still blank.

          The size needs to be 160x120. The name of one needs to be cm062f, not cm062. You may also be having trouble with that alpha channel thing.

          What improvements have you made? Those file names are what I used for my Stockade improvement. I can e-mail you a graphic I got from a Age of Kings screenshot that I'm using for my pic.

            I tried what you said but its still blank. But what has to be done with the alpha channel. I am using PSP5 full version.

            The main one I am doing is a Blacksmiths shop
            , and I am using a picture of a stable from
            Age of Empires. I also have created a Power Plant, Stock Exchange, Stone Circle, Stone Quere.

              At the bottom of this forum's 10 day list is a topic by Dogfish about using PSP. Try reading through that to learn about the alpha channel. I got mine to work without fooling with it, so I don't know specifically how it works. I would suggest copying a pic that you know works, and renaming it to the file that you're working on. If it shows up in the game correctly, you'll know it's something in your pic. If it doesn't work, either, then its probably something in the name or a text file.

              In my topic, New Improvement-Stockade, Harlan replied with instructions about creating new improvements. I copied and pasted it to the file about creating mods in the Modification section, so I could continuously refer back to it. Also, read through the thread on Harlan's plea for help. I requested some more help from him, and Paul answered with some helpful advice.

                I printed and followed the instructions in Harlan's mod. They worked great. I used PSP 5. I took some scanned pictures and pasted them into the blank.tga that is in Harlan's mod. I used one of my wife and some other objects to enhance and customize the image. I then saved the new image as
                sherry.tga I made sure the size was 160 x 120 and that it was in tga format and that it was 16 bit uncompressed. At first I forgot to change the default PSP settings when saving and I got the black box at the end. PSP defaults to a compressed form. So make sure you save it as 16 bit uncompressed.
