It's not like I'm Cygwin+GTK expert, but I can give it a shot...

I would also find that usefull - If you sort this out could you make it available on the main Freeciv website?

        Cheers

Only problem now is to find Imlib that doesn't require X11...

IIRC Tor Lillqvist's page had Imlib for Windows:

But it seems to have vanished into thin air. He probably dumped it since it is useless when using GTK+ 2.0.

He had to hack Imlib a lot since the original code is hardwired to use X11 directly instead of GDK.

Your best bet would be to port Civworld to use GTK+ 2.0.

It should be fairly easy to make a rough port since GTK+ 2.0 has backwards compatibility with most of the GTK+ 1.2 API.

Use the source code of the S1_14 CVS branch of Freeciv for this.

I won't have the time for that. I hope CivWorld author will do that... My other quick option was to use vnc as a lightweight X11 server, but this seems to have disappeared too (vnc x something, sorry can't remember the exact name).
