  • Peaceful Coexistence

I haven't tried FreeCiv for a couple builds, but what struck me as lacking was the lack of options for peaceful coexistence.

When I am playing non-scenario Civ2, I just try to nurture a small country into the modern ages without going for World Conquest or Alpha Centauri. FreeCiv assumes that no one could possibly want that with its AI. Are there any chances of a flag being added to make the AI an isolationist pacifist perfectionist?

The "take no prisoners"-AI approach in Freeciv probably has its roots in it being designed as a MP game. Computer AI's need to pose an agressive challenge in such situations. Diplomatic options like sharing transports (see Teamciv) with allies can only be used by human players

Unfortunately in SP this means that AI-player diplomacy is almost non-existent, at least for the moment. This is one of the areas Freeciv will have to improve -make a post about it on the Freeciv mailing list I would say. Who knows?-
Skeptics should forego any thought of convincing the unconvinced that we hold the torch of truth illuminating the darkness. A more modest, realistic, and achievable goal is to encourage the idea that one may be mistaken. Doubt is humbling and constructive; it leads to rational thought in weighing alternatives and fully reexamining options, and it opens unlimited vistas.

AI diplomacy is being worked on.

Note that we already have allied transports in the game (thanks to teamciv author).
