About Freeciv

Hi, what is this game freeciv about?? I am playing CIV II single and mpg for years now and havent heard about that game freeciv so far. Can someone explain me please what is about? I ve heard it is some sort of clone of Civ II, what does that mean?? How old is it, can it be played on-line? Who created it (microprose??), thanks in advance.

It means freeciv is mostly compatible with civ 2.

Freeciv is actually primarily for online multiplayer and has always been. Though you can play it single-player.
