  • One more reason to switch to Linux

OK, I said before that I am not here to convert anyone to Linux and will refrain from bashing Windows, but this is much more serious than an OS war. Read this and see if you are as angry as I am. I do hope the sound I hear is Micro$oft digging its own grave.

Sorry about the off-topic post, but someone has to spread the word.

I think its great that M$ have decided to do this, may give people a slap in the face and persuade them into looking into alternate OS's when their Windoze installation DOES fail and lets face it, it will, sooner rather than later!

Skeptics should forego any thought of convincing the unconvinced that we hold the torch of truth illuminating the darkness. A more modest, realistic, and achievable goal is to encourage the idea that one may be mistaken. Doubt is humbling and constructive; it leads to rational thought in weighing alternatives and fully reexamining options, and it opens unlimited vistas.

Bah, you all owe your ability to complain in this medium to Microsoft. And if you think I'm full of crap then you have about as much wisdom as you deserve.

What part of doing this post do I owe to M$ then?
And if you answer the computer industri in generel, I doubt it, go check what the judge said about how M$ inhibited the industry.

                        Hey Thue!

How are you! Can I ask you a question - that hilarious image a few postings above ("Good evening, Mr. Gates")... what piece of Linux software was that created with?

I don't know about that specifik picture. But I do know that the main graphics program on linux is the GIMP. It is (of course) free, and the source code is available.
I haven't used it much, but I hear there is a few things about it that could be done better, fx the user interface that is mostly done through right click menus.
Any decent linux distribution should ship with it.

The GIMP is sweet. Once you learn how to use it, its an exellent replacement for Photoshop. And if you happen to know perl, then you can really squeeze a lot out of it.

How ever, the picture Thue posted earlier is only a thumbnail size version of the much larger original. Parts of the image are rendered, and I don't know what tools the artist might have used for that. Any idea where one could find the full sized original?
