    Schedule for next freeciv release

[cut-past from a mail by jjm on freeciv-dev]

    Hello Freecivers.

Time keeps flying, and new features keep piling up! We have several great,
new features in the development version of Freeciv that need to be
released. (Besides, it's been 4 months and is time for a new release.

The (somewhat flexible) schedule for the release of Version 1.11.0 is:

Jun 13th - Feature freeze for version 1.11.0; start of beta period.
Jun 27th - Target release date for stable version 1.11.0 !

During the beta period (from feature freeze to release), we will generally
be focusing on bug-fixing, and only committing bug-fix patches to the CVS.
It is also the time during which the set of translatable strings will
(hopefully) stabilize enough to give the translators a chance to catch up.

Thanks to all who have contributed so much to Freeciv in the last few months.

You could use the CVS mailing list archive, but it is a bit lengthy. A readable version will be compiled for the release.

      But notable:
      Fog of War
      Diplomatic states
      Airplane goto
Transforming water to land and the other way around.
      Lots of bugfixes
      Code cleanups

      (I probably forgot something)

The transformation of water to land and vice versa sounds very intresting. How does it work, exactly? If you use an engineer to transform a land tile to water, what happens to it after the transformation is complete? Will it be stranded on the water tile, or will it be able to move to neighbouring land tiles from there?

It gets automatically moved onto nearby land or a transport nearby. if there isn't any it dies.
And that was absolutely horrible to code - and they made me code it even if it wasn't my patch .

Oh, and I forgot. the number of players is increased from 14 to 30 (and I even did it myself)

Fog of war and airplane goto was made almost entirely by me. The diplomatic states patch was started by someone else, but I did most of the work...
