  • Experimental graphics for Fantasy modpack

I recently had the Fantasy modpack updated for Freeciv 2.1. It still uses old-fashioned 'trident'-style graphics, so I figured I could put together some cool graphics for it from the work of the talented folks at the Scenario League!

Here's the result. Unzip into your favorite Freeciv folder; grab the images below and put them into the newly created amptasy/ folder. Then run 'civclient -t amptasy'.

Note that this is just a tileset, so you need the modpack rulesets installed as well. Direct download link: ftp://ftp.freeciv.org/pub/freeciv/co....1.0-1.tar.bz2

This is basically only a 'unitset' ATM, since all other graphics are loaded from Amplio directly.

EDIT: This package has been updated. The large fantasy_units image has been cut down, removing unused stuff as well as some sprites that I didn't have permission to use. (There's no good sprite for the hobbit unit now, though. ) Please redownload the data files and all images.

                  Great!

What's the status of this tileset? Will it be used as official tileset in fantasy modpack releases any time soon?

I have not been able to get in touch with catfish (the main artist) so the answer is: not yet.

Um, I am on OSX and I don't know what that means... Where is the data path? I am a newb (FreeCiv and Mac filesystem,), so where exactly do these files go?

                      P.S.: Those units look sweet!

Basically, it depends on how you installed Freeciv and where you got it from. (There is no easy way: sorry for the inconvenience.)

Some basic technical info at the wiki: http://freeciv.wikia.com/wiki/FREECIV_PATH
