I'm having problems with freeciv's pop-up dialogs when I run it under Metacity. New dialogs appear behind the ones that are already open instead of on top.
For example if I have the city dialog opened and click to buy the unit in production, the new dialog appear behind the city dialog. This happen to a lot of other dialogs too.
This is especially annoying when a new turn starts because a lot of dialogs pop-up. Since some of them are modal, but not neccesary appear at the top, they make all the visible ones non-responsive until I can find the modal one and close it.
I'm not sure if this is a Freeciv bug, or a Metacity bug. I know a lot of progs have problems like this under Metacity.
I use:
Debian Unstable
metacity 2.4.55-2
gnome 2.2.2
freeciv 1.14.0-5
