  • Multiple clients in one installation

At the moment, you choose the kind of client (gtk, gtk2, sdl, etc.) when configuring the compile. Would it be possible to allow one ot configure several different clients, and swap between them without recompiling?

I'm sure this isn't a very common thing for people to want, but sometimes I like to play Freeciv with the Gtk2 client and sometimes with the SDL client, and having to recompile is a bit of a pain

No, I'm afraid not. But you can unpack two copies of the source code and build one for gtk2 and one for SDL. You'd have to play from the source directories, though, since they will 'make install' over each other.

Ah well I will overwrite my 1.4.0 installation in /usr and keep sdl in /usr/local since cvs is pretty stable at the moment anyway.

I create one client, change it's name (civ-sld or sth. simillar), next build source once more and again and again.
