  • freeciv GTK+ fonts

    Hi,

Does anyone have any idea how to change the fonts in the freeciv GTK+ client?

There is a FAQ entry about this that says to copy freeciv.rc-2.0 to $HOME/.freeciv.rc-2.0 and edit it, which I have done but it seemed to have no effect.

I am playing freeciv at 1600x1200 and the default grey on black 9 point courier font used for the "chatline" is virtually unreadable.

In case the filename was something different, I ran civclient through strace to see what files it actually tried to open. It did not try to open anything resembling "freeciv.rc", but it did try some gtkrc and pangorc files.

I really hope someone can help with this, it seems like a few people are having this problem since goolging on this subject produced a couple of similar questions but no answers. I already mailed this question to freeciv@freeciv.org a day or two ago but there has been zero response.

    Thanks.

I'd like to do this too. My computer uses Tahoma font instead of MS Serif for the font, and seeing Serif made me remember how ugly it was

My email on the same subject sent to the freeciv list finally got answered, and this worked for me.

Damn... it doesn't work in 1.14.0?

If a FreeCiv developer here could give me any solutions, I would be most grateful.
