  • Is this open source?

    Or proprietary.

    Proprietary.

And I'm surprised to see you here.

Apologies for the slow responses, I'm archiving the dev threads in the event that Team Troll gets their wish and this place closes.

That could be why the game never really got a lot of people working on it.

oh, lots of people have worked on it. We've had good, solid participation over the years. Granted, had we gone open source, we could have had more. I think in retrospect, that was a mistake, but...we're still here.

What's the point of keeping it proprietary if no one can buy it?

          Open up the code.

Or is this just a control issue? It needs to be YOUR baby and not a community effort?

Your latest post is proof positive that you know far less about me than you think you do.

If the code folks want to make it open source, they have my blessing.

If they do not, they also have my blessing.

It is not, and has never been an issue of control in the way you are implying.

Now, unless you have something of substance to add here, kindly stop trying to bait me.

I'm not trying to bait you. I'm trying to figure out where the code is so I can fix compatibility on my .NET 4.0 alpha box since it won't load and I wanted to see what this is all about.

But you choose not to make it publicly available, that's fine with me. Just wanted to hear why you choose to control the code so tightly, rather than let the community see it and expand upon it.

                I beg to differ. This:

Or is this just a control issue? It needs to be YOUR baby and not a community effort?

has nothing to do with the question you just asked, and is, in fact, an attempt to bait.

Besides, you've already pronounced judgement on the game and the body of work that surrounds it.

You've already decided. Why bother to make it run?

Why are you trying to bait me when all I want to do is fix some code to make it work on the latest .NET?

Why do you try to run away contributors to the community?

Clearly that's not all you wanted to do.

                    What does this:

Or is this just a control issue? It needs to be YOUR baby and not a community effort? have to do with the technical issue at hand?

Again, you have already made your pronouncement on Candle'Bre (without even trying it, which is typical)

And btw...nice to see your "integrity" at work.

I'm backing him into a corner to again demonstrate he is an egomaniac controlfreak. Gently.
