I'm Back

My Gateway pile of rubbish was suffering from the worst case of Windows Sclerosis I've ever heard about. But now that I got some new hardware in the mail, reformatted completely, and reinstalled everything, it may be working ok (for now). So now that I can actually run a few programs, I'd like to get back in the game, if possible.

I see from this new posting window that a lot of things have been changing around here. I don't have time to catch up on three months of posts, so I don't know anything about what happened since my computer bit the dust. Is there still a place for me and/or the technology model we working on? Was Demo 5 ever released?

If there is a news/status thread somewhere, please direct me to it. If not, can someone fill me in on what happened? Thanks.

Hi Richard, glad to have you back. Yes there is Certainly still a place for you and the Tech model. Although the tech model won't be actually used until D6. Then again it'll probably take you quite a while just to enter all the data and debug the model.

Demo 5 isn't out yet, but its getting closer! Gary is fixing a lot of problems he sees in the existing code. So although things are a lot slower than I'd like, hopefully the coding will move quicker in the future because of all the foundation work done by Gary with more attention to good code design.

Words cannot express my desire to summarize the last three months of project activity for you... but there hasn't been all that much action on the forum, so skimming what has come up shouldn't take too long.

Ok, that last post was premature. SHortly after posting it, my computer started failing again and I found that my motherboard had over a dozen fried capacitors, so of course I had to wait until I got it replaced.

Now that I have a new motherboard, I should be able to return. I will try to get the tech tree data editor to run on this thing, at which time I will start inputting the tech system for demo 6.

Actually it is much more complicated than that. I am at home, but my email goes to my office. I should be there in about an hour from now.
