How long is the game going to last, i.e. until what time period? I have some WWI-era unit graphics that might be useful - I made them for a Civ 2 scenario which will never be finished as long as I only have version 2.42. Anyway, they seem like they would fit in with Clash, assuming the game lasts that long. So, if anyone is interested, I'll send them to you. (How nice of me.)

And are there any other specific units you need?

You guys really do have some good ideas here - and good luck programming them!

      Hi Fubla:

      Thanks for the offer!

At a minimum Clash will go somewhat beyond current technology, so First World War graphics would definitely be potentially useful. As a start you could e-mail them to me and Fiera, and we can take it from there. Alternatively, you could post them on the web site somewhere, and give us a link so everyone can see them.

Thanks for the encouragement, if you have any specific suggestions regarding the graphics or anything else, please let us know!

Hi, here's a semi-definitive version of the archer unit. I think you may well use this one if you're in a hurry with the release of demo5.

I'm terribly sorry, but the bad news is that I won't be able to make new graphics until the end of July, because I'm going to London on my vacation and will have no access to my Paint Shop Pro.

Regarding rivers, roads and any other map graphics, and since I realize that those are inexpendable for Demo5, I suggest you check this and then contact ContradictioN, the author of the graphics shown there. It seems that he's eager to work on his own Mods for Civ3, so maybe he's interested in helping us. His work is really nice, and his graphics are even very similar to mine.

Anyways, here's the link to my work on map graphics so far.

I will be browsing the forums any time I get the chance, so even when I won't be able to do any graphic work, I'll try to help with discussion and my opinions if there's something going on the graphics front.

Good luck and keep up the excellent work!

Hi again! I'm back home for a few days. All quiet on the graphics front? Is there anything I should try to get worked out before I leave again?

I had a go at an archer. I would show it to you but I don't know how to include an image in a post. If someone lets me know how I will.

              Cheers

Ther's an option to attach a file, just above the "submit reply" option, in the post reply screen.

Here it is. Hope this works.

                    Nice one, Gary!

Perhaps it's too big in comparison with the others, and the bow is maybe too thick. Have you tried it over a green or brown background?

I'm in Germany now and can't possibly do any work with graphics. Keep up the good work while I'm away.

Both of those things look a lot better against the terrain backgound. The reason for the mail shirt (which the Roman archers actually wore) is that it shows up well against green or brown.

                      • Actually, I think that ultimately we are going to have to have up to eight views of each symbol. Two identical units, from different civilizations, on adjacent squares look a bit silly if one of them is facing the wrong way...

                        Cheers

                        • Yes, that's sensible, but it may be too much work if we're gonna make eight graphics for each unit...

Is there some discussion going about this in any other thread (ie, Unit movement, etc)?

                          • My thought had been that two orientations should be adequate. A left and right-facing one. So TFs can face each other looking menacing if appropriate. Those can be done with one image that is mirror-rotated on the horizontal axis. If we want to show the direction in which a TF is moving then the red movement arrows (or whatever we finally settle on) should be useable for that.

Unfortunately that turns all the mirror imaged units into left-handers...

                              • hi guys

Just to introduce myself, I talked to mark about the possibility I might do some graphics work for your project, and he told me to put a couple of sample graphics up here for you all to take a look at. These are very quick and havent been 'tidied up', Just spent a couple of hours last night doing something somewhat relevant to the game. I pinched the terrain graphic from your site and pasted my models in. let me know what you think.
