          Helloooooooo

          Hi mark and everyone else...

as your request.. i will introduce myself here...

I'm Gonzalo Bianchi, a 26 years old programer from Argentina.
I apologize if some part of my english is not spelled or writed rigth, I made an intensive english course in oxford, but you can always learn something more in a new language.

i have 5 years experience in programing in C and i done some programing in C++, and I have develop some Java interface for web users, using oracle as a database in a client server model.

I'm looking for join a good work team for make a game... i was trying to make a game for myself, but i always get down because neither of the game i try was funny.. the only game i finish was a kind of galaxy programed in delphi (just want to learn how to use it.. and finish it..)

i know how to program with objects ( I work right now programing in VB6) and I always have to done some stuff in Java and C..

I have the resposability at work for looking into new ways for make the code look better, search for new technologies andmake new facilities for the rest of the programmers here. I code myself some programs like a CRC check, made in VB6 (yes, without objects and bits counter).. it work... I translated a C++ code into VB... was taken from the ZIP standard CRC check.

My wife (even im not married) is waiting a baby, that has to come out some of this day...

I work for the DGI (something like the IRS in USA), I made program for the people so they can pay their taxes (here almost every tax use a program) so you can download some of my work because is on the internet (I have to tell you that some of then are hard to use).

I have a lot of experience dealing with users interface.

if you have any question, regarding any subject of my experience, you can ask...

          Bye.

            Thanks Gonzalo

Bueno, tecnicalmente no soy uruguayo, pero estuve viviendo en Montevideo los últimos cinco-seis años. Mi origen es noruego.

Enough spanish, if not the others will complain. We are the only spanish speakers here I think.

I am sure Mark will give you an official welcome.

What would you like to do in Clash?

              Hola Gonzalo!

Actually since Rodrigo is from Chile I bet he has picked up a small amount of Spanish also .

Our standard approach now is to get you in contact with Gary, our lead coder, and put you on a project of mutual interest. One possibility is the econ GUI which certainly needs work. I am going to start a thread on improving it later in the weekend. Once you have completed a small project, if we haven't driven you away then it will be time to consider something bigger.

BTW, Please put your comments on D6 in the Demo 6 thread so we can get your "fresh eyes" opinions. And please if you don't like something be as critical as you think necessary, since its important for us to hear what people Really think!

I hope we have a long and glorious partnership!

              See ya'

                Hello All,

I just graduated from SUNY Tech in NY with a bachelors in computer science, and I'm recently moved to Orlando FL to study game design at FullSail. The extent of my current game programming experience is coding little java applets such as card games and anagram word games. I took a couple courses in every area of game design that a typical university offers but I've not yet had an opportunity to put all that theory to use. I hope that is what I might find here.

                  Hi Nick, welcome to Clash!

I think some of the academic game-design knowledge could do us a lot of good. At a minimum, it would be interesting to hear what conventional wisdom says, even though Clash is a rather unconventional game!

What types of game coding are you most interested in? I'm assuming you have at least moderate experience in Java, and will comment based on that assumption. If that isn't true, let me know...

Our biggest need right now is for gui coding, since we need a redone and greater-scope econ gui, and will soon need one for tech. The ecno Gui discussion is in a thread not very far down, please give it a look if you're interested. But there are other areas we could use coders in if your interests don't tilt toward gui stuff.

Our usual way to start off coders is for Gary, our coding lead, to give 'em a small project to see if they're really serious. Most don't pass that test . Once you show ability and desire to actually work we can figure out a specialty area for you to stake out. Gary is currently in the throes of RL for a bit, and incommunicado. I can send you the code right now so you can look at it and evaluate it, and you can familiarize yourself with Demo6 and where the design status is.

                  BTW, what's FullSail about?

                  [edit] ask about FullSail

Better fill in my spot here too:

I'm a hacker, trainer coder, cheat, deceiver, MODder and scenario writer. And if my other half is to be believed, a good kisser.

Anyways, I'll volunteer for the tutorial/scenario writing section of Clash. I love history (especially Egyptian, Medieval, Imperialism eras). I've written scenarios for Civ2 (though non published at Apolyton) and am a serious MODder of CTP2 (see my sig and the CTP2 forums for how good my MODs are)

On other PC news I'm a full-time desktop support technician and in my spare time play around with VC++ writing little apps/games/hacks/cheats for things. Oh, and my other half hates my computer for how much time it steals off me.

Hey Dale, I thought you already Were working on the tutorial thing!

I hadn't heard from you, and was about to give up...

Here is what I think you should do.

                      1. Download and play D6 and read the manual

                      2. Give any feedback you feel important on those

                      3. I will get you the "Clash testbed" code which has an early version of D7 that you can start writing a tutorial on.

                      4. You should skim the
Planning for Demos 7 & 8 thread to see the things we wanted the tutorial to do. The plan has evolved somewhat since the beginning, so read more carefully near the end.

                      5. Also look over the Documentation: Manuals and Tutorials thread, which is the main place for discussion of what the tutorials should have.

                      6. Once you get a chance to discuss what approach you'd like to take, and gotten some feedback, post an example of a few of the html blocks you would like to use for the tutorial, and what triggers them.

                      7. If you can't do 1-6 within the next 10 days or so, then I will need to take over the job, because Demo 7 can't wait forever for the tutorial...

After that try a draft of a complete tutorial for the Dawn scenario.

This job should get much more interesting for you with demo 8, for which I would like to have a map editor, and the capability for you to make up your own tutorial scenarios, and mods!

If you think you can't do this job at any time, Please let me know, so that I can start in on doing it myself. There isn't a lot of extra time to get the tutorial done considering the work needed.

I'm going to cross-post this in the Documentation thread, since that's where it really belongs. We should continue the discussion there.

Hope you can make this work! (Especially since I hate doing it )

                        Mark:

NP's. As I mentioned in my email, I've been flat-out the last couple of weeks due to changing jobs. But that's over with.

I'll have time to do it. *heads off to look over some threads*
